A person is arrested in possession of 34 passports at Lebombo port of entry to Mozambique

Border Management Authority (BMA) guards arrested a suspect in possession of 34 passports on Monday at the Lebombo port of entry to Mozambique.

According to the BMA, its guards discovered 34 passports accompanied by banknotes in the suspect’s possession during a routine inspection. Of these 34 passports, 32 belonged to Mozambican nationals, and two were identified as belonging to Angolan nationals.
The authority's spokesperson Mmemme Mogotsi said a case of possession of suspected stolen property has been opened and further investigations are under way to determine the origins of the passports.

BMA commissioner Dr Michael Masiapato lauded the vigilance and dedication of the BMA border guards. He said the successful arrest and confiscation of the passports is a message to the facilitators of illegal movements who continue to undermine the border control systems.

“We will continue to charge them criminally with aiding and abetting, as prescribed by the Immigration Act. The BMA border guards’ keen attention to detail and commitment to safeguarding our ports is crucial in our ongoing efforts to combat illegal activities and rooting out corruption taking place in the border law enforcement area. We are proud of their contribution to maintaining the integrity of our nation's ports of entry,” he said.

In few years from now,Poverty and unemployment will be a thing of the past in Tanzania

Tanzania is undertaking several major economic projects aimed at boosting its economy and infrastructure. Here are some of the most notable ones:
1 * Standard Gauge Railway (SGR): This ambitious project is constructing a 2,561 km railway line from Dar es Salaam to Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is expected to improve regional trade, create jobs, and boost economic growth.

2* Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP): This large-scale dam project on the Rufiji River is expected to be the largest hydroelectric power station in East Africa, generating 2,115 MW of clean energy. It will improve electricity access, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and promote sustainable development.

3 * LNG projects: Tanzania is developing its liquefied natural gas (LNG) resources, with several projects in the pipeline. These projects have the potential to generate significant revenue for the government and attract foreign investment.

4 * Port expansion projects: Tanzania is expanding its major ports, including Dar es Salaam and Tanga, to improve capacity and efficiency. This will facilitate trade and attract more businesses to the country.

5* Industrial parks: The government is establishing several industrial parks across the country to attract manufacturers and create jobs. These parks offer investors tax breaks and other incentives.

These are just a few of the many big economic projects underway in Tanzania. These projects have the potential to transform the country's economy and improve the lives of its citizens.

The Tanzanian government has also implemented various initiatives to reduce poverty, including:
 * National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty (NSGRP): This framework emphasizes economic growth, social development, and good governance to tackle poverty.
 * Investing in agriculture: The government supports small-scale farmers through subsidized inputs, extension services, and access to markets.
 * Improving social services: Investments in education, healthcare, and sanitation aim to improve the lives of vulnerable populations.
 * Promoting social safety nets: Programs like the Productive Social Safety Net (PSSN) provide cash transfers and other assistance to the poorest households.
These efforts have shown some progress, with poverty rates declining in recent years under Mama Samia government. However, challenges remain, and the government continues to refine its strategies to achieve its poverty reduction goals.
