Ramokgopa : Load-shedding expected to ease by midweek

South Africa's electricity minister, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, has announced that load-shedding stages are expected to ease during the week as more generation units return to service.

 The country experienced a surge in load-shedding due to boiler tub

e leaks, which took nine generating units offline at the end of the week. Eskom management is working directly with the original equipment manufacturers to address the issue. 

By Tuesday, load-shedding is expected to return to levels 4, 3, 2, and 1, and periodically not have load-shedding.

 Ramokgopa said that a cautious approach is being taken to return affected units to the grid, emphasizing the importance of doing everything right, even if the intensity of load-shedding will be above the summer plan.
